Walleye fishing I've been a long time and I'm pretty set in my ways. For example, I like to vote for my fish and experience of the bite and fight. Trolling, all of her popularity, is a last option for me. And I always use a spinning reel, because it is mostly free of problems. Baitcasters remind me of the 1950s … old school.

But when it comes to fishing line selection, I am intrigued by the latest and greatest. There seems to be something new coming out every year. The interesting aspect is that the lines are constantly in a state of development to make them thinner, stronger and less visible.

Lines monofilament have come a long way since it was developed by DuPont in 1939 when the company invented nylon. But fishermen were not as impressed with the monkey early and stay in the use of braided Dacron for the coming decades.

My memory of mono principles was that was lean and hard to handle and cast. Their two saving graces – knot strength and have very low visibility to fish – gave a small group of followers, but fair.

In 1959, DuPont introduced silks Stren, a thinner and much softer that could be used in a wide range of coils, as newly introduced spinning and spin casting tackle. Lines Stren monofilament soon became a favorite of many anglers due to its overall ease of use.

A few years ago, manufacturers began to use polyvinylidene fluoride to do what we know now, fluorocarbon line. It's much like nylon monofilament, but has several advantages: it is almost invisible in the water and stands to fish with sharp teeth and wear. In addition, fluorocarbon does not take the water and is resistant to UV light. That is denser than nylon, which makes it sink faster.

Dyneema, such as polyvinyl fluoride, is used in the new braided lines. It is stronger, much smaller in diameter and has very little stretch. Thus they take care to set the reel drag. An aggressive hook set, without a light load, is tearing the hook from the fish's mouth.

Berkley Protector is an innovation Dyneema split and I use exclusively on all my reels. The main reason is size. For example, 6-pound test Fireline is the same diameter of 2 pounds of monofilament and throw 30 to 40 per cent more than mono test book itself. I use the all-around 10 pounds of useful evidence.

I like to tell customers with nearly six feet of fluorocarbon 10-pound, with a lump of UNI.

While fluorocarbon lines look similar to monofilament which are different in many ways. For example, fluorocarbon lines tend to resist further twist monofilament

You can overcome this feature not fill your spool queue so thorough, quality job rotation to relieve the tour, and by using light pound test. In addition, fluorocarbon line does not dissipate heat as well as monofilament to go slow when tying the knot. Cinch up quickly and is likely to break from the heat of friction.

While Fluorocarbon lines are less visible to fish, they realize that even clear fluorocarbon can occur when green surrounded by water, which is common in lakes sweet and rivers. Fishermen who previously employed under terms of green camouflage monofilament and by its ability to be aware that there is now a green tint fluorocarbon available under the Trilene brand.

In addition, fluorocarbon color offers the additional feature of unwanted light scattering is known to occasionally travel along clear fluorocarbon and produce unwanted spark and flash. As optical fiber type.

Braids high due to high technology have almost zero stretch which offer greater sensitivity. Furthermore, the monofilament float better and are more tolerant of line twist, which makes most of the super-lines a dream come true for use in a rotating spool.

Besides offering extreme strength and thin diameter when selecting super-lines can eliminate completely the idea of an unexpected break. When choosing for trout, pike and panfish go with the same test as if it were monofilament is the best idea.

.

However, when conducting large fish such as rainbow trout and salmon, the intensification of a greater self test will provide a significant difference in strength and performance. For example, if you now use 25-pound test monofilament for salmon, select 50 or 65 pounds of super-line test, which is equal to the diameter 12 or 15-pound test monofilament.

In Lake Erie, where I do most of the boats trawling my use 15-20 pounds of braided line is much strong enough for 10 to 12-pound Walleyes caught there.

Unlike when first introduced just a few lines super – is a braid directly in these days, since most have been improved with additional treatment. This is done to flesh out the lines of what resists wrapping the tip, which is associated often with one braids process.

In addition, further processing is used to provide color, sweetness for longer casts, and to seal the line of what is going to shed water and float more. For example, Fireline passes through a cooking process that fuses into a single thread after his first braided.

Because of its smooth and polished exterior finish super-lines (regardless of brand) can slip into the print queue, which could make you believe that your reel has a faulty load. To counter this, start with a few meters to support mono, then connect the braided line, again, using the knot of the UNI. Some fishing line tape to the tail but not recommended.

Factoid
Sixteen-year-old Berkley Bedell began selling his hand tied flies made of hair cut from the family dog in 1937. That was the beginning of the line of Berkley fishing gear.
